Naples, which dates back to the 6th century and is mostly volcanic, dates back to the shadow of the Vesuvius eruption. Their unique culture, the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town region, the historic richness and the importance that they give to food and drink is real Italy. Naples is a city with 300 year old sidewalks, the main home of pizzas. In the streets you feel like you are in your own country, with the warm smiles and the warm cafes waiting for you.
I would recommend living in Naples like a Neapolitan rather than a tourist. That is how you recognize the real Napoli.
Historically, one important point for us is that there is a Turkish king, Joachim Napoleon Murat. Murat, who was actually the son of a caricter of the Kipchak Turks, was married to Napoleon’s sister Caroline Bonaparte, who later became deputy in 1800. The French parliament appointed him as Commander of the First Division and Governor of Paris. In 1804 he became the Imperial Marshal and two years later the Grand Duke. In 1808 he was declared king of Naples. It is possible to see the statue of King Murat with the other kings on the wall of the royal palace.
At the beginning of the places to be seen in Naples, which is a port city, there is an old underground city and also a cistern. The most beautiful place to watch the city from above is the Royal Palace. Naples Archaeological Museum, Castel Nuovo, Galleria Umberto, Castel dell ‘Ovo Megaride and the ancient Carthage San Marino monastery.
The world famous cities Ercolano and Pompeii are very close to Naples. Capri Island, just across Naples, is one of the holiday centers. Amalfi coasts with beautiful villages and towns, exquisite shores and scenes are seduced by a single word. Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello are some of the places to be seen.
